Who this is for
- First-time parents who want someone alongside them who has done this hundreds of times
- Families planning a hospital, birth-center, or home birth and want continuity of support across whichever direction the labor turns
- Parents whose previous birth left questions, grief, or a sense that they weren’t heard
- Anyone who wants a guide who can speak the language of the obstetric team without being part of it
Who this isn’t for
- Anyone looking for a doula who will arrive only at labor and leave at delivery. I can’t do you justice on that timeline.
- Families who want a medical decision-maker. That’s your obstetrician or your midwife. I don’t replace them.
- Pregnancies where induction or surgical birth is already scheduled with no flexibility and no client preference to discuss. I can support, but the work shrinks to a kind of bedside companionship; we should talk first about whether that’s what you actually want.
What you bring, what I bring
You bring your preferences and your willingness to change them as labor unfolds. You bring your partner if you have one. You bring the questions you’re afraid to ask your provider.
I bring years of attending births in Madison County and the surrounding hospitals. I bring patience for the hours that feel longest. I bring referrals if we need them. I bring my homeopathic kit for the postpartum visit, used only if you want it. I bring continuity. I don’t leave to attend another birth in the middle of yours.
